Journey to North Kanto│ Nikko Common Worship: Daiyuin Temple, Futarasan Shrine, Toshogu Shrine, Rinnoji Temple

I have always liked this kind of historical sites and scenic spots. After experiencing the beautiful scenery of the Kinugawa Mountains yesterday, today I plan to have a shared visit to Nikko and visit the World Heritage Sites of Oyouin, Futarasan Shrine, Tosho Palace and Rinwang Temple, experience different cultural travels.

Close to Japan’s maple viewing season, many friends will arrange their itinerary early. Most of them will go to Kyoto as their first choice. The Kinugawa Hot Springs and Nikko, which are about 2 hours’ drive from Tokyo, already have some red maples. There are also a lot of maple trees planted in various restaurants. I saw a lot of maple trees when I visited this time. Some of them were still green, but after being sprinkled with rainwater, the photos were still green. I believe that a visit in November will definitely be possible See the super beautiful red maple. It seems that there are not too many people coming to these two places (?). If you want to take a long walk and take pictures while enjoying the scenery, these two places are still good choices for your reference. (Already silently arranged a visit here in mid-November next year^^)

◎ Northern Kanto, Japan and a group of people

1. Departure time: 2012/10/18
2. Departure point: Nikko Kinugawa Onsen Station
3. Destination: Nikko
4. By transportation: Kinugawa Hot Spring-Nikko City Bus
5. Route:
Breakfast at Dream Season Hotel & Check out (luggage storage hotel) → Kinugawa Onsen Station ‧ City Bus (departs at 10:00) ‧ → Nishisando, Nikko
→ Walk to Daiyuin Temple / You can also take a sightseeing bus to go up → Futarasan Shrine → Toshogu Palace → Rinno-ji Temple
‧ Sightseeing bus (every 8-10 minutes) ‧ → Tobu Nikko Station → ‧‧‧ Noiwa Railway Aizu Kinugawa Line (15:18 trains from Nikko Station-Shimoimaichi-Kinugawa Onsen) ‧‧‧ → Kinugawa Onsen Station
→ Pick up your luggage at the Dream Season Hotel → Kinugawa Onsen Station ‧‧‧ Tobu Railway Nikko Line Kinugawa Line (16:44 Departure Section Express Train) ‧‧‧ → Asakusa Station
6. Attractions: Dayouin Temple, Futarasan Shrine, Toshogu Shrine, and Rinnoji Temple

For the transportation between Kinugawa Onsen Station and the downtown area of Nikko, it would be very cost-effective to purchase a free pass sold by Tobu Railway. It already includes a bus ticket to and from the two places. We did not notice this this time, but one item at a time. Separate pricing is more expensive. And I think I take a city bus to go there~
1. Save the time from Kinugawa Onsen Station to Nikko City. There is no need to change trains at Shimoimaichi Station. It is suitable for parent-child travels with children and strollers.
2. The bus stops at "Tobu World Plaza" (similar to Little People's Kingdom), "Nikko Edo Village", "Nikko Ape Legion" and other recreation areas along the way, and it can also be easily arranged as a one-day itinerary.
3. If you want to go to the shrines in Nikko, you can purchase the "Two Shrines and One Temple Common Worship Ticket" at the passenger service center next to the station (this is only an exchange ticket, you need to exchange for the official joint ticket when you arrive at the destination), "Kinugawa Hot Springs" -Nikko City City Bus Ticket".
4. The journey time is only 20-25 minutes, which is quite convenient.

◎ Daiyuin Temple, Tokugawa Iemitsu Shrine, the third-generation general of the Tokugawa Shogunate

If you walk in from the door, you can feel the peaceful atmosphere here. According to the inquiry, it was found that Daiyuin was an ancestral hall of Tokugawa Iemitsu. It was built in the early Edo period (around the 17th century) and has a history of more than XNUMX years. !This shrine is said to be a model of Toshogu Shrine (the temple where he was deified). As a grandson, Iemitsu Tokugawa had concerns about copying Tosshogu, so black and gold were used as the basis for the construction.Although there is a very beautiful Erten Gate here, it was introduced in a travel book I bought in Japan, and it is called a must-see attraction, but it has been under repair now, so it doesn't look like the original one.

However, the main worship hall is still accessible and has not been repaired. In response to the NHK drama "Jiang Hime no Suguo (Temporary translation: Jiang, the princess's Warring States)", Ikeko’s mother was revealed for the first time in the worship hall – A Jiang’s tablet can be seen when you enter the house.

◎ Futarasan Shrine, a representative of historical sites during the Nara period

At the beginning, the people of Shengdao felt that there were gods in Nikko Mountain, and they founded Erhuangshan Shrine and Shibenryu Temple. Nikko Mountain is famous for this, and it is said that many monks have visited. After Tokugawa Ieyasu founded the shogunate in Edo in 1603, Nikko Mountain was protected as a ghost gate of Edo. The second general Tokugawa Hidetaka rebuilt the main hall and shrine, which we will see when we visit. Look.Since it was built in 783, it is very long, so 23 of the main halls and the bridge in the shrine yard are designated as important cultural assets.

I think the most special thing is that there are two "parent-child cedar" and "husband cedar" in the shrine where you can visit, pray for the safety and happiness of the family!

◎ Toshogu Shrine, dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first general of Tokugawa

The Edo shogunate Tokugawa Ieyasu passed away in 1616, and his son Hidetaka Tokugawa built the "Toshosha" here according to his last words "Building a temple to worship at Nikko". Later, the Emperor of Japan declared that it was renamed Toshogu Shrine. It is said that the third-generation general Tokugawa Iemitsu, who respected his grandfather, spent a lot of manpower to rebuild Toshogu Shrine, and the construction cost was as high as 57 taels of gold, which is about 400 billion yen based on the current value (this... also too amazing) Come! @@), a total of 454 million people participated, and the exquisite carving techniques at the beginning of the Edo period (early 17th century) were gathered together. Therefore, there are many cultural heritages worth seeing in Tosho Palace.

In addition, Toshogu Shrine is also found in many places, only Nikko is the head office, so be sure to schedule it to visit!During the visit, you will see a lot of people watching...It is three little monkeys. Why?Please continue to look down~^^
