Old Street Bak Kut Teh: Taste Singapore’s Local Food at MBK Center Bangkok

Singapore’s Old Street Bak Kut Teh (Old Street Bak Kut Teh) officially entered Bangkok in April. We have never eaten authentic Bak Kut Teh. The taste of Thai cuisine is really full of peppery smell and it is delicious!

Transportation: How to get to MBK Center in Bangkok

Old Street Bak Kut Teh (Old Street Bak Kut Teh) is located on the first floor of MBK Center. You can take the Bangkok Skytrain BTS to the National Stadium Station. After exiting the station, walk about 220 meters and within 3 to 5 minutes. If you are travelling with your family and dependents and children, you have to carry a stroller up and down the MRT. It is recommended to use Grab Taxi to call the taxi.

Singaporean chain gourmet restaurant Lao Cai Bak Kut Teh dining experience

"Bak Kut Teh" is a kind of soup made with meaty bone ingredients. It originated when the Chinese came to work in Malaysia. The founder Li Wendi and his descendants sold and sold meat bone soup and called "Bok Kut Teh". But in Hokkien dialect "Di" and "tea" sound similar, and it was later called "bak Kut Teh".The development of Bak Kut Teh is divided into:
‧White Pie (Chaozhou Pie): The soup is lighter in color and uses more pepper to taste, flourishing in Singapore
‧ Black pie (Fujian pie): The soup is darker and uses black soy sauce and soy sauce for the flavor, which flourishes in Malaysia

Old Street Bak Kut Teh belongs to the white pie and is the favorite food of the locals in Singapore. I met the store manager on the same day and learned that they already have 18 stores in Singapore. They chose Bangkok, Thailand as their first overseas branch. I was very nervous. Quite cautiously, Bangkok gathers diversified foreign cuisines (including chain brands), and Thai cuisine is unique. How to subdue Thais and foreign tourists has to compete with real skills.

This shop opened in the middle of the building, because it just opened and some dishes have not yet arrived, but several classic Bak Kut Teh or signature dishes are ready, and the menus are also marked in Chinese, Thai, and English. The price of each menu is about the same. It ranges from 100 to more than 300 baht.We ordered a few dishes. After serving, they tasted full of pepper aroma. Anya loves pepper very much... and thinks it tastes right, but too much portion will make it a bit salty.

The seafood rice porridge ordered by my sister is very special. The soup is served separately from the rice fragrant. You need to soak the rice fragrant into the seafood soup and wait for it to absorb the soup before you eat. It is delicious and has a light rice aroma. It is highly recommended! If you don’t like heavy tastes, you can order some beverages to eliminate the peppery taste in your mouth, such as barley water and Thai iced black tea. We have not yet visited Singapore, and eating Singaporean delicacies in Bangkok is amazing.
