Ayutthaya, Wat Maha That (Wat Maha That) is an attraction that includes the day tour. This temple was built in 1374 and is the oldest temple in Ayutthaya. According to archaeologists, Wat Maha That The temple was built by King Boromaraja I ((1370-88) and completed during the reign of King Ramesuan (1388-1395).
However, after the completion of Mahathat Temple, due to the continuous Thai-Burmese war, it was burnt down by the Burmese army in 1767, and it was in ruins. There are many temples and monuments in Ayutthaya, but many Buddha statues have their heads and hands missing. This is mainly because the Burmese army used fire to burn the gold and stone in order to obtain the gold attached to the Buddha statues and pagodas. Part of it can be obtained due to cold contraction and thermal expansion, which causes the neck and hands of the Buddha statue to break.
After we bought the ticket (50 THB) to enter, we felt like we were back in Cambodia. The pagodas here are mostly Khmer-style. The red bricks on the wall are pushed up and put together, which makes people feel the construction Prosperity, and Buddha's worship by descendants.I came here at the end of August for free travel. I would really go shopping shortly under the sun. I can only walk around and take pictures and stop. It is recommended that if you want to visit, you can choose from October to February. The climate is also cooler.
During the visit, a group of mainland tourists listened carefully to the tour guide explaining the historical background of Wat Mahathat, followed by eavesdropping... @@
It turned out that the main tower in the temple collapsed in 1911, but thieves were attracted to steal the precious treasures in the tower. It was not until 1956 that there was a full-time department to sort out the historical relics in the surrounding area with the main tower as the center. Many precious relics include Buddha statues, altar tables, and gold offering boxes in the shape of fish/animals. Now these treasures are placed on display in the Chao Sam Phraya National Museum.
In addition, the Session Five at Wat Mahathat attracted many local residents and foreigners to learn introspective meditation courses. The course times are 7:00~10:00 in the morning, 1:00~4:00 in the afternoon, and 6 in the evening. 00~8:00.It is a retreat.English courses are offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is recommended to stay here to meditate and relax. The ashram of Wat Mahathat also provides free meals and accommodation, and accepts free donations from students!
Because the Buddha statue in the picture below is wrapped in a tree, the peripheral vendors have made this concept into a work of art.
During the war, the Buddha statue was completely destroyed, but this one was spared.
The Buddha looked at the world with a smile, with a compassionate and caring face.
These were supposed to be "golden" towers, but the red bricks were mottled.
I like this piece very much myself, what do you think?
