The Hakata style of Kawabata Street Shopping Street

Kawabatori Shopping Street has more than 130 years of development history and a total length of about 400 meters. It is divided into two store organizations, Kawabata Central Shopping Street and Kamikawabata Shopping Street. The Kawabata Central Shopping Street Promotion Association (30 member stores) and Kamikawabata The Shopping Street Revitalization Association (100 member stores) is responsible for promoting the development of the business district, and regularly organizes activities such as the Drum Drum Festival, Gion Yamakasa, and special sales festivals every year.

Kawabatori Shopping Street is a pedestrian shopping street with a common light-transmitting and rain-shielding ceiling design in Japan. There is no need to worry about the sun and rain. It combines restaurants, clothing, groceries, jewelry, Buddhist tools and souvenir shops. The types of shops are diverse and there is no zoning plan. Various types of shops are mixed together. Anyway, the length of the shopping street is only about 400 meters, which is very suitable for sweeping the street and digging for treasures. There are even many youth lodgings suitable for backpackers in the shopping street.

When we first visited Kawabata-dori shopping street, we made a special trip to the owl coffee shop in the shopping street. It was rainy and rainy, and we did not visit the famous Kushida Shrine next to it. We directly enjoyed the barbecue commercial set meal at the nearby Daitoen restaurant. This time, taking advantage of the warmth of the sky, I visited Cold Spring Park and Kushida Shrine at the end of the shopping street. I also ate in the shopping street. By the way, I bought some fruit snacks and prepared for the next cherry blossom viewing picnic.
