The Death Railway Line of the River Kwai Bridge: Remembering the retro railway style after the cruel precipitation of the war

Leaving the water house on the Quine River early in the morning, heading to Erawan National Park to enjoy the Erawan Falls, the group then went to Tham Krasae Station on the Death Railway Line in the afternoon, which is the station closest to the Death Curve section. Except for the River Kwai Bridge, the entire section of the Death Railway Line is the most beautiful and distinctive section of the railway. We will take a bus to the River Kwai Bridge to enjoy the two most beautiful railway scenery at the same time.

Small file of railway traffic routes in Thailand

The Thai railway system is centered on Bangkok City and is divided into four main routes: North (Northern Line), East (Eastern Line), South (Southern Line), and Northeast Line (Northeastern Line). Klong Line) and Maha Chai (Maha Chai Line) are two separate routes that are connected end to end. The terminals of the two routes are the famous Maeklong Railway Market and Maha Chai Line.

The so-called death rail road is the Thai-Burmese railway line built by the Japanese army in the past. It was originally a route planned by the British exploration and planned to connect the two metropolises of Bangkok, Thailand and Yangon in Myanmar, starting from the Nong Pla Duk Junction station. Today, the Thai-Myanmar border railway is The route has been abandoned, and the terminal is Nam Tok Station in Kanchanaburi, which is included in the southern line of the Thai Railway. It is recommended to look at the history of the Thai-Burma Railway first. I believe that you will feel more when you take the Death Railway.

Death Railway ride experience

Get on the train from Tham Krasae station. After the train is turned on, you can immediately see the scenic Death Bend road section on the River Kwai. Traveling all the way for about 80 minutes, you can reach the River Kwai Bridge station. Before entering the station, you will pass on the Kwai River. The River Kwai Bridge, which is world-famous for movies, passes through the two most distinctive railway scenery at the beginning and the end of the whole journey. It can be considered as a clever way of riding when traveling by chartered car.

During the Second World War, the Death Railway began to be built in 1942, and the 17-kilometer railway was completed in just 415 months. During this period, Allied prisoners of war and Southeast Asian laborers suffered heavy casualties. Japan surrendered in 1945, and the United States filmed an Oscar. Best film, Thailand has one more famous tourist attraction. The cruel history sometimes seems to be a kind of black humor. For most people who have not been in war for 70 years, this is not a distant and vague memory, but a history that has never been experienced. .

Conclusion

In very hot weather, if it is not a holiday, the 80-minute journey from the Death Bend to the River Kwai Bridge by taking the air-conditioned train from Bangkok is indeed the most convenient and short path to experience the Death Railway. If you have the opportunity, if you can take the complete historical section of the Thai-Burma Railway that departs from Nong Pla Duk Junction and arrives at the end of Nam Tok, I believe it will make the mood more settled and slowly recall the charm of this long and bitter war relic.
