Kyoto’s century-old shop "Queen Soba Shimotoya Owariya" is located in the Shijo Kawaramachi area. At that time, we visited the market’s Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine and wanted to find a restaurant nearby to fill up our stomachs, and randomly selected a store that was still open. Entering, I didn't expect it to be an old store with a deep background.
How to get there: How to get to Owariya?
Honya Owariya has three stores in Kyoto, namely the main store, the Shijo store, and the Takashimaya store. Both the Shijo store and the Takashimaya store are near Kawaramachi Station. You can take the Hankyu Kyoto Line and get off at Kawaramachi Station and walk there, or take the Karasuma Line from Kyoto Station to Shijo Get off at the station and walk there. There are also many bus routes near Shijo Kawaramachi, and the traffic is quite convenient.
We ate at the Kintomi Koji store in Nishiki Market, but now we can't see this branch on the official website. There are also Shijo and Takashimaya stores nearby. This area is a lively business district in Kyoto, with many department stores, gourmet restaurants and shops, and the Nishiki Market captures the hearts of travelers. You can experience local markets and hand-made food features. Planning the itinerary takes roughly one day .

Introduction to Owariya House and Dining Experience
The shop originally started as a confectionery shop. It opened after the Onin Rebellion in the Muromachi Period. In the mid-Edo period, it switched to selling soba noodles. The water quality and quality were carefully selected in the store, supplemented by orders from the Imperial Palace. It bears the name "Queen Buckwheat Division".
We ordered food inside. The price on the menu was not high because of the century and the royal use. We chose the popular set menu recommended by the store. The soba noodles have a solid taste and special sauce. It is not too salty and is very suitable for bringing elders to dinner.
