The Golden Thompson Museum was originally the art collection and residence of American businessman Jim Thompson. Born in 1906, he successfully founded Thailand’s well-known high-end Thai silk brand, known as the "King of Thai silk", and is also a Southeast Asian and Buddhist art collector. Since 1958, the existing museum buildings have been constructed one after another. During World War II, he participated in the activities of the CIA advance organization OSS of the US Central Intelligence Agency. This is why he is a US intelligence agent. After his disappearance in Malaysia in 1967, his whereabouts are unknown.
