As Taiwan's major cherry blossom viewing spots open one after another in February and March, the last cherry blossom viewing hotspot in the north - Wuji Tianyuan Temple in Tamsui, still attracts a large number of flower-watching crowds. However, the weather this year is not as ideal as in previous years. The continuous rain has shortened the blooming period of Yoshino cherry blossoms, and some have already turned green. If you want to capture the beauty of full bloom, it is recommended to pay close attention to the latest flower conditions and arrange your trip in advance to avoid missing out on the most dreamy cherry blossom feast in northern Taiwan!
Transportation to Tianyuan Palace for cherry blossom viewing: To avoid traffic jams, the bus is the best choice!
Last year, we recommended that everyone take a taxi to Tianyuan Palace to view the cherry blossoms. However, this year, due to the large number of people viewing the cherry blossoms, Beixin Road was severely congested, making driving and riding a bicycle difficult, and even taxis were difficult to take. Therefore, this year Tianyuan Temple implemented traffic control, so I took bus 875 to avoid traffic jams.
Cherry Blossom Viewing Transfer Guide: Even if you leave early, it’s still hard to avoid the traffic!
Although I chose to depart early on Monday morning, thinking I could avoid the crowds, it turned out that there were still a large number of tourists driving in, which prolonged the travel time of the shuttle bus. Get off at Shuiyuan Elementary School Station on the way and walk to Tianyuan Palace, which is about 10 minutes away. Taking pictures of the scenery while walking is also a pleasant cherry blossom viewing experience.
Private flower viewing spots along the way: the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms and azaleas in front of the gate
Along Beixin Road, many residents planted cherry trees at their doorsteps. Although there are only a few trees, the flowers are in excellent condition and there are no crowds, so you can take pictures leisurely. In addition, after entering March, rhododendrons also begin to bloom. The beautiful scenery of peach-red, pink and white rhododendrons can be seen inside and outside Tianyuan Palace, which is worth stopping to appreciate.
Best cherry blossom viewing itinerary suggestion: take the bus + depart on non-holidays
It is recommended to take the shuttle bus and choose to go on a non-holiday so that you can take pictures of the beautiful scenery relatively easily. After enjoying the flowers, it is recommended to leave around 1 pm to avoid the peak hours of the shuttle bus and reduce the waiting time on the return trip. I hope that next year’s Tianyuan Palace cherry blossom season will bring another perfect flower-viewing trip!
Gaying on the same scene: Sprinted cherry blossom viewing spots
When I used to work at Wuming Xiaozhan, I worked with Y!The editorial team on the homepage worked together on one day to compile a collection of cherry blossom viewing spots in Taiwan, including Wuling Farm, Jiu Aboriginal Culture Village, Taoyuan Fuxing Township, Hsinchu Simacus and Tai’an Police Station. Sanzhi Tianyuan Palace will also be under traffic control at that time. Thanks to the good care of these places, we can enjoy the cherry blossoms without going abroad, and sprint for consecutive holidays.
