What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Visit Busan Pass?
Planning your Busan trip? Are you overwhelmed by the sheer number of attraction tickets? Lotte World costs ₩ 47,000, Busan X the Sky ₩ 27,000, and just queuing for train tickets in Haeundae alone can easily burn through half your travel budget. Furthermore, most Korean attractions require queuing at counters, especially during peak seasons like summer vacation and cherry blossom season. Just waiting in line can take half an hour, not to mention how tiring it is for families with children. This is where the Busan pass comes in handy!

The Busan Pass covers three main areas and categories of attractions.

Visit Busan Pass partner attractions are located throughout Busan, based on where tourists most frequently stop and move around.Haeundae, Gijang District,West District,Busan Station (Nampo), Songdo, Yeongdo DistrictThe system is organized into three main areas, with each area further subdivided into different types based on the nature of the attractions, making it easier for everyone to select their preferred itinerary and route planning.
Haeundae and Gijang District: Busan's most popular coastal tourist area
- Scenic/Seaview RailwayHaeundae Blue Line Park Coastal Train, Busan X the Sky Observatory, Cheongsapo Skywalk
- Amusement parks/outdoor activitiesLotte World Busan, Skyline Luge, Diamond Bay Yachting in Busan, Surfers Songjeong Store, Daeyong Taekwondo, Gijang Gudusan Bamboo Forest
- Family-friendly/Indoor exhibition hallsSEA LIFE Busan Aquarium, Brick Campus, Museum One, Busan Science Museum
- spaSPA LAND Sauna @ New World Department Store, CLUB D OASIS Sauna & Water Park, HILL SPA Yingyue Road Sauna, Hotel Aqua Palace Spa & Sauna
- Literary and artistic essaysHailituan Road (a cluster of cafes and boutiques)
Haeundae Beach is Busan's most popular summer resort, bordered by Songjeong Beach to the north and Gwangalli Beach to the south. It also boasts numerous cherry blossom viewing spots along its shores, making it a great tourist destination in spring or summer. It's also the area with the highest concentration of attractions listed on Busan's travel permit. Furthermore, the Gijang district north of Haeundae is also extremely popular, thanks to Lotte World and Skyline Luge, but its downside is the tendency to encounter rain.

West Zone: Transportation Hub + Local Experience Attractions
- Entertainment ExperienceLaser Arena Seomyeon Laser Battle Experience, Running Man Experience, DIAegg Escape Room
- Cultural ExhibitionsSeomyeon Museum
- Nearby shopping/dining optionsSeomyeon Underground Shopping Mall and Jeonpo Coffee Street (administratively located in Busan Jin-gu, but often included in the same day's itinerary along the same route as Seomyeon).
While Seomyeon itself has fewer attractions, its location at the intersection of subway lines 1 and 2 makes it a crucial hub for accommodations and transfers throughout Busan. It's a suitable stopover point for your itinerary, allowing you to visit attractions along the way in the morning or evening, connecting to Haeundae or Nampo areas. Furthermore, Seomyeon is primarily comprised of indoor attractions, making it a good backup plan for rainy days, and also a convenient spot for shopping or dining.

Busan Station (Nampo), Songdo, Yeongdo District: Old Town Landmarks + Coastal Cable Car Trail
- Landmark LandscapeBusan Tower (Dongyongsan Park), Busan Tourist Bus (Busan Station), Gamcheon Culture Village, BIFF Plaza
- Cable cars/walksSongdo Ropeway, Songdo Ryugyu Cloud Bridge, Yeongdo Taejongdai Danubi Train
- Art/Artistic Youth CategoryBusan Film Experience Museum, National Maritime Museum, Busan Film Experience Museum, ARTE MUSEUM (Cinema Island Immersive Digital Art Museum), Baekcheon Beach Culture Village
- Korean clothing/Event experienceGamcheon Romantic Hanbok, Ibgogage Hanbok Rental, Cheol-soo & Young-hee Hanbok Experience, Flipbook Studio, Nakdong River Eco-exploration Boat, Songdo Laser Gun Arena, Surfers Dadaepo Store
The Nampo-Songdo-Yeongdo area boasts the second-highest number of attractions after Haeundae. However, there aren't many attractions around the subway stations, and most require taking a bus or taxi. It's recommended to familiarize yourself with Busan bus routes beforehand or get used to using Kakao or Uber to hail a taxi. Furthermore, Gamcheon Culture Village, Songdo, and Yeongdo are all quite far apart, so travel time should be taken into account when planning your trip.

Purchase online (Mobile Pass / Physical card by reservation)
This is suitable for travelers who plan their trip in advance and want to save time queuing on-site. After purchasing online, the Mobile Pass version can be downloaded directly with a QR code; if you choose a physical card, it requires "online reservation and payment," and you still need to go to a designated location to redeem the card in person after arriving in Busan.

| Creatrip | This is a local South Korean travel platform with detailed product information and integrated deals related to South Korean travel. |
- Advantages of online shoppingYou can confirm the style and discount before departure, avoid communication problems in English and Korean on site, and some platforms allow you to buy and use it immediately (Mobile Pass).
- Online purchase restrictionsMobile Pass requires users to show their phone screen throughout the process, which is inconvenient when the phone is out of power or there is no internet connection; physical cards still require queuing on-site to collect, and there is no guarantee that they will be available on-site.
Purchase at a physical counter (on-site purchase + card collection)
This is suitable for travelers who decide to purchase a transportation card upon arrival in Busan or who wish to receive a physical card on the spot. On-site purchase eliminates the need for online card swiping and waiting for verification, but you will need to bring your passport and note that the language spoken on-site is mainly English and Korean.

|---|---|
| Busan Station Official Tourist Counter | Presenting your passport allows you to purchase and receive a physical card on-site, making it the primary and most recommended location for purchasing cards. |

- On-site purchase restrictionsYou need to apply in person with your passport at the counter. During peak seasons (long weekends, cherry blossom season, summer vacation), there may be long queues. Also, the supply of physical cards for popular days is limited, and you may not be able to buy one. If you plan to use it on the day of arrival, it is recommended to go early or make an online appointment for safety.
Whether purchased online or in person, the physical card must be presented at the physical card counter.Activate within 6 months of purchaseIf you simply want to experience attractions without needing a transportation card, Mobile Pass (purchased online) is usually the fastest and most convenient option.

Lotte World Adventure Park, Busan
Strictly speaking, Lotte World is not located in the three core areas of Haeundae, Seomyeon, and Nampo, but in Gijang County. However, because its transportation routes are along the East Sea Line, which is the same as Haeundae, it is often included in the itinerary planning as an extension of Haeundae.
Using the Busan Pass to visit Lotte World is incredibly cost-effective, as Lotte World tickets are quite expensive. However, the downside is that it rains quite often in Gijang County. | Transportation | Take the Donghae Line to Osili Station (오시리아역), Exit 1, and walk for about 5-10 minutes. Although it's located in Gijang County, not within Haeundae city proper, most travelers incorporate it into their Haeundae itineraries. |
| Points to note | For attractions classified as Group A (purple), if Lotte World is selected in the purple group option on your Big3/Big5 card, other attractions within the same group cannot be redeemed. It is recommended to allocate a full day for this and pay attention to the departure time of the last Tokai Line train. |
