Kyoto's Sanjo district has a new accommodation option! Opening in September 2025, two sister hotels, "soyo-ne" and "soyo-ka," are themed around "sound" and "aroma," offering a modern, luxurious Japanese-style experience. Each of these boutique hotels boasts just eight rooms and is operated by the renowned Keeyls Co., Ltd. Ideally situated within an eight-minute walk of both Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station and Karasuma Oike Station, the hotel's design embraces the Japanese aesthetic of "simplicity" and "remainder," emphasizing the natural textures of materials and the beauty of white space, making it a perfect choice for both business trips and family getaways.

Service Features and Brand Characteristics | Experience Kyoto culture with all five senses and be amazed by the stunning Japanese aesthetics

The soyo brand name is derived from the ancient Japanese aesthetic concepts of "素" (Su) and "余" (Yu). "素" represents the inherent beauty of the material, while "余" symbolizes the blank space and charm in space and time. "soyo-ne" takes "sound" as the main design theme, echoing the historical background of Fuya-machi Street, where gagaku and poetry were once heard. The hotel creates a tranquil and far-reaching atmosphere, allowing guests to enjoy a leisurely time in the style of Kyoto. "soyo-ka" is inspired by "fragrance", incorporating the four-season fragrance of Sakaimachi Street and the taste memories of long-established shops into the design concept. Some guest rooms also have a beautiful view of the dry landscape garden from the bathroom. Both hotels use natural materials to create interiors, adhering to the design philosophy of "no excessive decoration", giving the space a quiet and elegant texture, perfectly interpreting the balanced aesthetics of modern luxury and traditional Japanese style.

Room Type Selection and Features | Each room has a view, making it super comfortable for families and groups

Soyo-ne offers Standard Twin Rooms (approximately 50 square meters) furnished with two double beds and a sofa bed, accommodating up to four guests and perfect for small families or groups of friends. The rooms feature a refreshingly minimalist design, bathed in Kyoto's unique soft natural light, creating a tranquil and comfortable ambiance. Soyo-ka offers two room types: Standard Twin Rooms (approximately 2 square meters), also furnished with two double beds and a sofa bed, boast a bathtub overlooking the dry landscape garden; and Deluxe Twin Rooms (approximately 1 square meters), offering a spacious layout with two double beds and two sofa beds, accommodating up to six guests and featuring their own private large bath, perfect for families or groups. All rooms feature modern amenities combined with traditional Japanese aesthetics, allowing guests to experience the tranquility of Kyoto's zen-like atmosphere in the heart of the city.

Dining Spaces and Public Facilities | Hot Food Arrives, Exclusive Limited Menus Available First

Both hotels have introduced popular local Kyoto gourmet restaurants to provide guests with unique dining experiences. Melchi, located within the Soyo-ne Hotel, is a popular shop specializing in sandwiches and dessert sandwiches. They use a variety of ingredients to create a variety of sandwiches, and their signature Melchi Basque cheesecake sandwich is a must-try. It is scheduled to officially open on November 11th. Soyo-ka has also added Hitokami, a specialty tonkatsu sandwich shop. They use low-temperature-aged domestic fillet meat on soft bread and offer nine different flavors of tonkatsu sandwiches, including Kyoto-style white miso, plum shiso, and Saikyo miso. It is scheduled to open on November 8st. Both shops usually specialize in takeout, but they offer limited appetizers and alcoholic drinks within the hotel, and guests can also enjoy dine-in service, making it a dining experience not to be missed during your stay.

Access and Surroundings | An 8-minute walk from the subway station, with access to all of Kyoto's best attractions

Soyo-ne is located at the upper end of Fuyacho-dori Sanjo in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, a 7-minute walk from Kyoto-Shiyakusho-mae Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Tozai Line. Soyo-ka is located at the lower end of Sakaimachi-dori Sanjo, an 8-minute walk from Karasuma-Oike Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma and Tozai Lines. Both hotels are conveniently located within walking distance of many of Kyoto's most popular attractions. The World Heritage Site of Nijo Castle is just 1.3 kilometers away, a 15-minute drive; Kiyomizu-dera Temple is about 3.3 kilometers away, a 35-minute commute; To-ji Temple is about 4 kilometers away, a 30-minute drive; and the Kyoto International Manga Museum is just 900 meters away, an 11-minute walk. Modern attractions such as Kyoto Tower and the Kyoto Aquarium are also within a 30-minute commute, making them ideal bases for exploring Kyoto, whether you're looking to experience traditional culture or enjoy modern entertainment.
