Overall Review: Actual Accommodation Reviews of SOIL Nihonbashi Hotel

SOIL Nihonbashi Hotel is a boutique design hotel nestled amidst lush greenery, featuring a minimalist yet sophisticated design. The friendly and welcoming staff and simple yet stylish rooms offer a tranquil haven in the heart of the city. However, the breakfast selection is limited; it's recommended to visit Parklet Bakery across the street for a wider variety of baked goods and coffee. Overall, it's suitable for those seeking a deep immersion in local culture, an appreciation for design aesthetics, and a unique accommodation experience. It's also recommended for couples or small families.

  • Service features and brand characteristics: Local experience integrated into the community, transcending the traditional hotel accommodation concept! This is the third hotel under the community-oriented developer Staple, encouraging guests to immerse themselves in the daily life of Nihonbashi. The front desk staff speaks fluent English and is happy to assist in finding attractions throughout Tokyo, providing friendly and professional service that makes guests feel welcome from the moment they check in. Guests can use the shared workspace on the second floor. Rooms are cleaned daily to maintain a fresh and tidy atmosphere, and the entire space exudes a tranquil and natural ambiance. However, front desk service is only available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and overnight check-in is not available, which may be inconvenient.
  • Room type selection and equipment features: A small but beautiful space full of greenery, with design details that showcase the spirit of craftsmanship! The hotel has 14 guest rooms divided into three main types. Some rooms feature a bathtub, while the penthouse suites include a large bathtub, a tranquil living space, and a vintage cassette player with a selection of mixtapes for music enjoyment. Architect Kiyoaki Takeda visited the local community during the design process, drawing inspiration from the bonsai culture of Ningyocho residents. The overall design features red brick exterior walls, complemented by custom-made natural stone door handles and stained paper lamps, adding a unique personality to the rooms. The rooms are designed simply and are not positioned as a luxury hotel, but rather win over guests with their thoughtful design and warm atmosphere.
  • Dining spaces and public facilities: Natural yeast pizza and rooftop terrace, connecting with local food culture! The hotel's ground floor houses Pizza Tane, a sourdough pizza restaurant that uses natural yeast inherited from the nearby Parklet Bakery. The pizzas are topped with generous amounts of seasonal ingredients, and the rich aroma of the dough combined with fresh vegetables creates a unique flavor experience. Breakfast offers sourdough hot dogs or mottadra ham pizzas, both served with salad, drinks, and fruit desserts, but the selection is limited. Alternatively, you can dine directly at Parklet Bakery across the street. The hotel features a rooftop terrace offering rare greenery and expansive views from downtown Tokyo; the rooftop view is highly recommended.
  • Transportation and surrounding environment: A traditional neighborhood where multiple subway lines intersect, bustling during the day and quiet at night! The hotel is a 5-minute walk from Ningyocho Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and Toei Asakusa Line, and a 10-minute walk from Mitsukoshimae Station on the Ginza Line. It's also just steps away from the Mikatsu Yukata Museum and Sugimori Shrine. Located in an area of Tokyo primarily consisting of small wholesalers and offices, where most buildings are deserted at night, the hotel is actually a quiet neighborhood. Nearby attractions include the Amazake Yokocho Shopping Street, Horidor Children's Park, and the Genji Shop Memorial, making it a neighborhood that retains the charm of old shops and alleyways while blending with a modern urban atmosphere.

"Absolutely loved my stay at Soil Nihonbashi. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We kind of already miss them? The rooms are beautifully designed, very aesthetic, and thoughtfully put together with great attention to detail. On top of that, the in-house products are excellent. And the food? Unreal. Tanne, Timsum, and Parklet were all fantastic, each spot had its own vibe, and every meal hit. One small note: the bed was on the firmer side, which is totally a personal preference thing and didn't take away from the overall experience. Such a well-rounded stay, design, hospitality, and food all done right. Would 100% come back.」

"I absolutely loved this hotel!! We only stayed one night at the last stop of our trip, and I really regret not staying longer. Everything about the hotel was so wonderful, showing the designer's attention to detail in every aspect. I managed to snag the last room available, so I could only book a double room, but the room was cozy and comfortable, like being in a spa. Instead of a TV, there was a small cassette player playing soothing music – such a thoughtful touch! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast and pizza were delicious. The hotel's location is superb, just a 5-minute walk from the train station with direct access to Haneda Airport – so convenient! Highly recommended!"

"We had a wonderful New Year holiday at the hotel. The overall design of the hotel was first-class, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were warm and friendly, and when we left, they hosted a grand farewell party for us, making us feel like we were saying goodbye to family. What was even more surprising was that after a long day of sightseeing, the hotel offered creative and delicious pizzas for dinner, as well as quick and tasty breakfast options, so we could start the new day feeling refreshed."
