Since I went to Kyoto to enjoy cherry blossoms in 2013, I stayed in Kujo area and it was newly opened a year ago.Almonte Guest HouseLater, I began to become familiar with this area of Kyoto, which can be called the "back train station". Except for the famous Toji Temple, the Kujo area does not have many places of interest. It can provide space for the construction of many new hotels, and it enjoys the same convenient transportation. Under such circumstances, I chose to stay at Sakura Terrace during the peak cherry blossom viewing season in 2016. (🔎Reservation prices and accommodation reviews:agoda|booking.com|Trip|klook)

Quick introduction: Basic introduction to Sakura Terrace Hotel

Reservation:agoda|booking.com|Trip|klook

Sakura Terrace Hotel opened in 2013. It provides Japanese-style facilities such as large baths and flush toilets. The rooms have ordinary Western-style beds, and the other room is of the same series.Sakura Terrace The Gallery, Continued its new opening in 2015. It is only about 150 meters away from Kyoto Station. The distance is closer but the price is slightly higher. You can also include it as a reference for booking.

Since 2017, Sakura Terrace Hotel has adjusted its accommodation policy to adults only, and only accepts children over 13 years old with their parents, who are also considered as an adult. In addition, in addition to the hotel facilities being for guests only, the hotel also refuses to accommodate groups of more than 5 people, creating a more peaceful and relaxing accommodation atmosphere.

What room type is recommended? Sakura Terrace Hotel is a 9-story building with a total of 204 rooms, offering 8 room types to choose from.

Room Type空间bedNumber of people
Standard double room(71 rooms)18㎡1 king bed2
Standard twin room (42 rooms)19㎡2 single beds2
Superior Double Room (56 rooms)19㎡1 king bed2
Superior twin room (15 rooms)22㎡2 single beds2
Balcony Twin Room (6 rooms)30㎡2 single beds2
Corner Double Room (8 rooms)27㎡1 king bed2
Triple Room (5 rooms)30㎡3 single beds3
Barrier-free rooms (1 rooms)30㎡1 king bed2

The Sakura Terrace room starts from 18 square meters. Compared with the APA (アパホテル) chain hotel room, the average space is about 15 square meters. Although the difference is only about 3 square meters, the difference in space is very obvious. At least the larger bed is more comfortable. Large suitcases can also be opened easily. It can be said that APA is suitable for people who travel with backpacks, and Sakura Terrace can meet the needs of passengers with luggage.

We stayed in the Superior Double room type this time. With a little extra budget, we can get 1 square meter more space than the standard double room, which means an extra small balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows. In the evening, we can see the sunset outside the window. I immediately felt that this was the most cost-effective room type, and it was also in line with the name of the hotel’s Sakura Terrace! The main public facilities of the hotel are the indoor restaurant and outdoor bar in the lobby on the first floor, as well as two large baths separated by men and women. The restaurant can provide guests with a free drink every night. Whether sitting indoors or outdoors, it is quite relaxing. The separate large bathing area for men and women is also quite commendable. The environment is clean and well-equipped. Men provide saunas and women. There is a pottery bath, which is the difference between the two baths.

In addition, free full-space Wi-Fi, free hot water and ice machines, vending machines, coin-operated washing machines, etc., are all the equipment that a newly opened hotel should have. Of course, this hotel also has it all.

Also shown on the same show: Kyoto’s overloaded tourism industry

When I checked in, I met a western tourist swearing at the counter, to the effect that "I called to ask if there is a room. After I walked over, I now tell me that there is no room?!", the counter was deadlocked. I don’t know how to respond for a long time. I think it should be a language communication problem!

In recent years, tourism has developed rapidly in Kyoto. Friends living in the area mentioned: The service industry employees in Kyoto seem to have exceeded their load limits, and they have heard of unfriendly attitudes and conflicts with tourists from time to time.In addition to the people in Kyoto who have to think about how to deal with the rapid growth of tourists, travelers who admire Kyoto may consider avoiding the cherry blossom viewing season and appreciate the beauty of Kyoto in other seasons. It seems that it is also a good choice.

How to get there by car? Traffic information and surrounding environment of Sakura Terrace Hotel

Sakura Terrace Hotel (Sakura Terrace) is located next to Exit 2 of Kyoto Subway Kujo Station. You can reach the hotel immediately after exiting the station. If you are carrying large luggage, it is recommended to take the elevator out of Exit 4 and you can reach the hotel immediately after crossing the street. Arrive at hotel. In fact, the hotel is about 500 meters away from Kyoto Station. If your foot strength allows, you can actually walk directly from Kyoto Station without having to take the subway up and down!

In addition to taking the nearby subway to travel to various scenic spots, the "Dashiqiao" bus stop is right next to the hotel, with buses 202, 207, and 208 passing by, making it easy to reach the scenic spots in the Dongshan area.At that time, we took JR from Osaka to Kyoto Station early in the morning. After transferring to the subway to the hotel, we immediately took the bus to Tofukuji Temple for a one-day maple viewing trip. There was no time wasting in traffic!

Comprehensive review: Kyoto Kujo Station Super Convenient Hotel Accommodation Recommendation

Sakura Terrace has an excellent location, close to subway and bus stations, and within a short walk to JR and Kintetsu stations. Arrangement of attractions is very simple, and compared with APA, the room space is more spacious, which is suitable for travelers with large luggage. On demand, we provide Western-style rooms and Japanese-style bath facilities to retain a little Japanese style, but still enjoy the experience of a modern hotel.

1. Internet: The hotel's WiFi wasn't as bad as some Google reviews suggested. Watching YouTube videos and replying to messages was quite smooth, without any lag. This is based on my experience staying there in October 2025. 2. Room Size: For Japanese standards, the room is quite spacious. There was room for two people to spread out their suitcases (a front-opening suitcase would be even better). There was also a table in the room for eating, and the bathroom had a bathtub (not sure if every room type has this; I booked a twin room). Overall, the stay was quite pleasant. 3. Daily Drinks: From 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily, each person can order one alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage (choose one). There are plenty of seats in the lobby, creating a relaxing atmosphere for enjoying a drink. 4. Cleaning: Eco-Cleaning is implemented, with cleaning every three days (starting from check-in). However, towels and toiletries are changed daily, and trash is collected daily (if cleaning isn't done, remember to put up a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door before 1:00 PM!). 5. Public public baths: Open 6:00-10:00 and 16:00-1:00. For those who walk 10,000 steps a day in Japan, soaking in a public bath (separate for men and women) is worth trying; it can relieve body aches and pains. 6. Location: About a 10-minute walk from the station. If you are carrying large luggage or traveling with elderly people, it is recommended to take a taxi (you can just call Uber; no need to download any other app, just use the Taiwanese version. Remember to link your credit card beforehand for payment). It takes about 5 minutes to get to the hotel, costing around NT$100 per person (based on 4 people with 4 large and 1 small suitcases in a deluxe 5-seater). This saves time and avoids carrying luggage. Personally, I think for short distances with many people, if you don't want to drag your luggage, calling a taxi is acceptable. 7. Shopping Convenience: There's a 7-Eleven right across the street from the hotel, making it convenient to buy snacks and drinks. You can fill your own bottles on the first floor (no bottled water provided in the rooms). For breakfast hours 7:00-10:00, you'll need to ask the front desk for assistance to fill your water bottle; after 10:00, you can fill it yourself. 8. Value for Money: The Standard Twin Room, without breakfast, cost around NT$4000 per night when booked in October 2025. I'm unsure if the price is lower normally, but for this price, the room isn't particularly small, and overall, the value for money is quite high.

"The hotel's location is excellent, with many convenience stores and izakayas nearby. It's close to Kujo Station, and Kyoto Station and Tofukuji Station are also within a 10-minute walk, making transportation very convenient. The receptionist who greeted me at check-in seemed to be an intern; she appeared nervous, but her service attitude and communication were excellent 😂. Breakfast is served in the lobby before 10:00 AM, and after 10:00 AM it becomes a self-service coffee bar. Every guest can get a free drink from the bar after 18:00 PM every night, which is fantastic! (Refills are ¥500). The room Wi-Fi was terrible; despite the hallway being full of routers, the signal was still so weak (both of our rooms had terrible Wi-Fi). The hotel offers a public public bath with free lockable lockers. The men's and women's baths were quite crowded in the evenings. Women need to enter a password before entering the bath (provided at check-in). Check-out is done directly using the self-service machines, which offer multiple language options and are quick and convenient."

"The hotel is right next to a subway station, and there's a bus stop just across the street. It's also a short walk to Kyoto Station or Limousine Bus Station. The lobby offers complimentary alcohol, tea, and coffee, as well as free massage chairs. The only downside is that there are no power outlets by the bed, which makes it a bit inconvenient to charge your phone before bed."
