The Hakone Gora Rakuten Residence Villa Hotel opened on April 23, 2026. The hotel consists of 3 buildings offering 20 private villas. All villas are equipped with a private natural hot spring bath and terrace, as well as a kitchen, washer and dryer, projector and other facilities. Self-check-in is required; there are no counter staff. If needed, please call the staff; English is spoken. The rooms are beautiful; the living room windows offer views of lush trees, and the high ceilings are very comfortable. There are two bedrooms, estimated to sleep up to 19 people. A sauna, oven, washing machine, rice cooker, and basic tableware are provided, which was very convenient as we bought our own hot pot ingredients! However, here are the downsides: ⚠️ Around 2 PM on the second night, the alarm suddenly went off loudly, waking the child who cried (it was really loud, even waking my in-laws). We called the staff, who said it was a system problem and we needed to wait for a technician. We waited for about 30 minutes, during which time the alarm went off every 2 minutes, and everyone was almost driven to distraction 😭. The alarm finally stopped when the maintenance personnel arrived, but we were still very unsettled for an hour. During this time, the hotel staff didn't offer any assistance. It wasn't until we checked out the next day that we saw reviews on Rakuten Japan and discovered that similar incidents had occurred repeatedly last year. We don't understand why a large hotel group would allow such problems to continue? Although I really liked the hotel's ambiance, after this experience, I probably wouldn't consider staying there again!

The check-in computer system is absolutely terrible. Could you please improve it? Just checking in takes us several hours of typing, and not only do we have to fill out forms, but it also crashes!! Then it goes on an endless loop for who knows how long?! We're paying to stay here, not to waste our rest time typing this junk information!!! With this kind of problem, even the best environment is useless!

A very good vacation experience; the room facilities were impeccable. There's a private hot spring room on the second floor, as well as a washer and dryer. The only downside is that their parking lot is quite far, requiring a 5-8 minute walk. Walking back to the accommodation at night is rather dark, and walking along the roadside can be dangerous, so it's best to bring a flashlight. There are short-term parking spaces available for luggage. I also saw some people arrive by bus, but pushing luggage to the accommodation area after getting off the bus can be quite inconvenient, as there's only a roadside area and it's on a slope, making it difficult to transport large items. Overall, this accommodation was a very good experience. I would give it a 95 out of 100.

The hot spring on the second floor is fantastic! The foot bath on the first floor can comfortably accommodate six people for a small drink together; aside from the chairs outside being a bit dirty, there are two bathrooms, heating, a fireplace-style humidifier, a refrigerator, a kitchen, a microwave, and cups. The beds on the second floor are connected to the high-ceilinged living room area, which might be noisy if someone is still awake, but otherwise, it's very nice.
