Overall Review: Actual Accommodation Reviews of Montblanc Hotel Raffine in front of Nagoya Station

Montblanc Hotel Raffine Nagoya Station is located a 3-minute walk from the Sakura-dori Exit of Nagoya Station. It boasts thoughtful services such as separate bathrooms, ReFa shower facilities, and a complimentary beverage bar. Overall, the cleanliness and staff responsiveness are quite good. The main drawbacks are the small rooms, a few oversights in cleaning details, and inconsistent breakfast quality. Overall, it's suitable for solo business travelers or short-stay tourists. Those who prioritize spacious rooms or high-quality breakfasts should consider other options.

  • Service features and brand characteristics: The reception and handling are meticulous and attentive, and the complimentary beverage service is a thoughtful bonus! The front desk staff were highly commendable, with their friendly guidance during luggage storage and attentive service at the elevator entrance leaving a lasting impression. The café on the first floor offers luggage storage from the morning of check-in and provides complimentary drinks from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, which is especially useful for early arrivals or on hot days. Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the property, with a designated smoking area located at the back of the lobby on the first floor. However, the complimentary café is only available during check-in and cannot be used after check-out, which is a slight drawback.
  • Room type selection and equipment features: Separate bathrooms are very popular, but there is still room for improvement in the details of the rooms! Most guest rooms feature separate bathrooms with bathtubs and showers, and a variety of bath salts are available for selection on the first floor to enhance the relaxing bathing experience. The showerheads and hairdryers are both from the ReFa brand. An ironing station is provided in the room, and a trouser press is available in the elevator lobby. The rooms are generally on the smaller side, adequate for a single person, but some areas were not clean enough, such as dusty window frames and lint left on the beds, pajamas, and towels. Disposable slippers would also be appreciated. Complimentary bottled water is not provided, but there is a water dispenser on the second floor offering regular water, sparkling water, and hydrogen water.
  • Dining spaces and public facilities: Nagoya's breakfast options are diverse, but the taste varies slightly!Breakfast is served at a Japanese-Western buffet, featuring ingredients from long-established local Nagoya restaurants and Nagoya specialties. The menu changes slightly daily, and the fruit is cut into bite-sized pieces. Replenishment is frequent, and the food remains neatly arranged even late at night. The breakfast deserves high praise, but some may find issues with the taste, such as overly salty sauces, dry tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet), overcooked sausages, and hard bacon, indicating inconsistent quality. However, the complimentary locker service is a welcome feature for those traveling light.
  • Transportation and surrounding environment: Just three minutes from Nagoya Station, with complete shopping and dining options! The hotel is about a 3-minute walk from the Sakura-dori Exit of JR Nagoya Station. It's surrounded by convenience stores and restaurants, and offers convenient access to areas like Sakae and Fushimi. It's also a good base for staying near venues like IG Arena. During peak seasons or holidays, the elevators can be crowded during check-out times, so it's recommended to plan your check-out time in advance. The hotel provides a great guide to Nagoya's best restaurants; I tried the food at a nearby eel rice restaurant recommended on the card, and the food was excellent.

⭐Recommendation rating: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5.0)

  • Recommended groups:Solo business travelers, short-stay tourists, and female travelers who value the functionality of the area around the station and the quality of the bathroom facilities.
  • Reasons for recommendation:The location is excellent, within walking distance of the station. The separate bathrooms and ReFa shower facilities enhance the bathing experience, and the staff are generally attentive and friendly.

✅Reminders

  • Room cleaning confirmation:After checking in, please check the bedding, towels, and pajamas for any cleaning oversights such as hair residue. If you find any problems, please report them to the front desk immediately.
  • Differences in breakfast quality:The breakfast menu offers a wide variety of dishes, but the saltiness or doneness of some items varies. Those who have high standards for food quality may want to consider whether to purchase additional items.

"The hotel is conveniently located near Nagoya Station, about a 2-3 minute walk away. There's also an L convenience store and a subway station across the street. The jasmine scent in the lobby is relaxing and calming. Overall, the hotel facilities are excellent. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with bathtubs, large-screen TVs, air conditioning, and toiletries (makeup remover, lotion, and bath products are also provided on the first floor). The second floor has a water dispenser, coin-operated single-tub washing machines, vending machines, and an ice maker. The housekeeping staff are very thorough and clean. Breakfast is also available, featuring Nagoya cuisine, and the food is excellent. However, I had a less pleasant experience, which may be considered in isolation. My husband and I were visiting Nagoya for the first time for a five-day, four-night trip. To save time and money on transportation, we stayed at the same hotel for several nights. Therefore, I had some less than pleasant experiences with the hotel service. On the second morning, my husband and I had breakfast at the designated time, and I was surprised to find many other guests arriving late, almost closing time." The next day, I noticed a notice indicating shorter dining hours. While I can understand the hotel's approach, it felt like a punishment for those who were punctual. On the third and fourth days, we checked in and dined at the designated times. Before closing time, the staff started cleaning and tidying up. While I was waiting for my toast in the toaster, a staff member hesitated to remove the bread tongs from the counter. I gave him my tongs, and he took the entire tray without explaining how to retrieve the bread from the toaster. I had to retrieve the bread from the dry bread compartment and put it back. This early cleaning up was really unpleasant for those who followed the rules. Another point I personally noticed was the unusual location of the check-in counter. The distance between the main entrance and the counter was greater than the elevator, whereas usually the elevator is further inside and the counter is closer to the entrance. The reception counter, though small, became the centerpiece of the hotel. Guests were immediately faced with the counter staff upon entering the lobby, and had to walk several steps, dragging their luggage, to reach it. The area in front of the counter was where guests could collect amenities, and whenever I went to get them, I felt like several pairs of eyes were watching me. There were approximately four to five reception staff on duty at the counter each day, chatting and laughing among themselves. As soon as a guest entered the lobby, the staff would stop talking, greet them in Japanese, and immediately begin serving them, either watching them collect their amenities or bowing as they entered the elevator. I believe this was the hotel's way of providing the highest level of courtesy and hospitality, but I felt a sense of oppression as I checked in. On the third evening, after a happy shopping trip, we returned to our hotel, carrying bags of goods and food. A female staff member came to greet us and watched us enter the elevator. Perhaps she was tired from work, but her expression towards our bags revealed disgust and displeasure. I felt, "I shouldn't have come here to shop; I'm a tourist causing inconvenience and trouble for the locals." She managed a forced smile, but it was a very formal one. If we've caused you trouble by returning to the hotel, I'd rather you just smiled at the counter. After experiencing the pandemic, my husband and I returned to Japan in 2026, our first time in Nagoya. We had initially been impressed by the friendliness of the Japanese, but this time, during our hotel stay and shopping, that impression was completely gone. They no longer proactively assisted guests or offered help with anything we needed. I was left with this realization: "Someone who hates bothering others goes to a country with similar attitudes, but still causes inconvenience and trouble for you. Thank you for your hard work."

The hotel is located about a 5-minute walk from Sakura-dori Exit. Upon arrival, staff will guide you to the check-in counter. Free drinks are available on the first floor from 10:00 AM to 20:00 PM, but this might not be useful for travelers who are out early and back late. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 9:15 AM and includes fried pork cutlet, karaage chicken, fried shrimp, fish, salad, miso soup, curry, bread, etc. The selection isn't extensive, but it's sufficient. Bath powder, facial cleanser, lotion, razors, and other toiletries are available on the first floor for guests to take themselves. The hotel staff are very friendly and polite, making the experience very comfortable. Every day when we returned to the hotel, they would proactively press the elevator button to let us upstairs. The bathroom has a separate shower and toilet area, which was very satisfying. The room's soundproofing was decent, but a downside was that the pillowcases had noticeable small stains on the first night (sixth photo). The stains were better after the sheets were changed the next day, but some small stains still remained on the sheets. Check-out time is 10:00 AM, which felt a little early. I stayed here for four nights this time, and aside from the two points mentioned above, the overall experience was quite good. I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again next time I go to Nagoya.

"It's just a few minutes' walk from the Sakura-dori Exit of Nagoya Station. If you don't have large luggage, you can easily access the hotel via the nearby Line 1 subway. There's a Lawson supermarket across the street and a 7-Eleven a 2-minute walk away. There are three elevators, so you basically don't have to wait! The second-floor tea room has an ice maker, microwave, and water dispenser—super convenient! The amenities are also very good. 😆 The bathroom has a Refa showerhead and hairdryer. 💛 The TV in the room is a large smart TV, facing the bed—super cool! 👍 It's a pity the refrigerator is too small, and the freezer can't hold ice cream. 🔺 This hotel has a policy that if you extend your stay and don't have your room cleaned, they will still require you to come back on the fourth day for cleaning. Overall, I highly recommend it—especially suitable for solo travelers. 🩷"
