Introduction to Longdongwan Ocean Park: A secret water playground in the northeast corner for families to enjoy together
Longdong Bay trip reservation:KKday|klook
If you are looking for a beginner-friendly water play place suitable for children to get in touch with the ocean and with the assistance of coaches, Longdong Bay Ocean Park would be a good choice. Located in Gongliao District, New Taipei City, it is a very popular water attraction in northern Taiwan in summer. Not only is the sea open to divers, but there are also snorkeling, SUP, and sea swimming experiences suitable for beginners and parents and children. The movement lines and equipment rental procedures in the park are clear, which is relatively easy for first-time family travelers to arrange.
How to get there from Taipei and New Taipei? Longdongwan Ocean Park Transportation and Parking Guide for Beginners
Longdong Bay trip reservation:KKday|klook
It takes about 1 hour and 5 minutes to drive to Longdongwan Ocean Park from Taipei or New Taipei City. You can directly set the navigation to "Longdongwan Ocean Park Parking Lot" and the route along the way will be clear. However, the road near the park is prone to traffic jams after 9 am on holidays. It is recommended to reserve more buffer time during the trip (about 10 to 15 minutes is safer).
There are two types of parking spaces available in the park:
- Underground parking lot: It is shaded and relatively cool, suitable for families with children or those who plan to stay for a long time.
- Open-air parking lot: large space but exposed to the sun, remember to keep items in the car safe, especially electronic products or food
Parking fees (updated in 2025)
- Small car: 30 yuan per hour
- Motorcycle: 20 yuan per time
- There is currently no free period or daily limit, so it is recommended to arrange a half-day trip, which will be more cost-effective.
How to rent a sunshade in Longdong Bay? Umbrella and tent rental package
If you plan to spend most of the day at Longdong Bay Ocean Park, it is highly recommended to rent a set of sunshade facilities. Especially if you are traveling with children, it will be much easier to have a place to rest and have a snack. The park currently offers two sunshade options: a parasol set next to the children's wading pool, and a large tent set suitable for the whole family (the tent part will be introduced in the next paragraph).
The rental fee for the parasol set is NT$250 per set, which includes a large parasol and a set of wooden tables and chairs. The location is near the children's pool. However, this type of parasol cannot be booked online and can only be rented on site. If you want to use it, it is recommended to first go to the site to choose a favorite location, write down the number on the parasol, and then take your ID to the "Ocean Supply Station" in the park to register and pay.
We use heavy-duty fixed umbrella stands on site, which are less likely to be blown down by the wind and are more reassuring for new parents with children.
How to book a large sunshade tent? Check out the cost and usage precautions
If you have a large group or want a more spacious space to rest, you can also consider renting a large sunshade tent in the park. This tent is 3 meters x 3 meters in size, suitable for 8 to 10 people, and contains a set of wooden tables and chairs. The shade effect is better than that of a parasol set. The rental fee for each set is 600 yuan, and you can choose "online reservation" or "on-site rental".
However, if you choose to make an online reservation, you must pay attention to the time limit: you must complete the check-in before 9:00 in the morning. If you check in after 9:10, it will be regarded as giving up the reservation and the quota will be transferred to the on-site standby. It is recommended that you pay attention to this when planning your trip, especially during holidays when there are many people.
In addition, please note that the tent area is within the scope of the national scenic area, and any fire source (such as gas stoves, charcoal fires, water boilers, etc.) is prohibited. You can remind your friends and relatives in advance. The tent fee is paid when you check in at the "Ocean Supply Station" in the park, and the tickets and parking are purchased at the entrance ticket booth.
A little reminder! The park does not accept reservations, so it is recommended to arrive early for peace of mind. For example, we checked in at 9:00 and chose the second floor of the entrance. Not only is it close to the children's paddling pool, you can see the children from above and the sea view is also quite good!
Recommended for parents and children to play in the water! Children's swimming pool equipment and equipment guide
If you bring your children to Longdong Bay to play in the water, the children's paddling pool area is worth arranging. The children's pool here is divided into two types:
One is an outdoor swimming pool that retains the natural rock terrain, and the other is an artificial children's pool that uses natural seawater and looks similar to a normal swimming pool. Both are suitable for children under elementary school age to play in the water and experience the coolness of the sea water.
The water is about 50cm deep, not too deep, but parents need to accompany their children throughout the whole process (safety first). Since this is not a smooth tiled swimming pool, the bottom of the pool and the surrounding ground are made of outdoor materials. Some areas have reefs or slippery surfaces, so you need to be more careful when walking, especially for younger children.
The recommended equipment list is as follows:
- Jellyfish suit, non-slip shoes or river trekking sandals (anti-wear and anti-slip are important)
- Swimming rings, water guns, diving toys, etc. (not provided by the park, please bring your own)
- Towel, dry clothes, sun hat (can be used with parasol)
- The water here is directly introduced from seawater, which has a high salt content. It is recommended to prepare goggles to reduce eye irritation.
A little reminder! Next to the children's pool is the parasol rental area, and there is also a seating area for parents to rest. It is recommended to arrange the rental of sunshade facilities in advance, so that the children can have fun and the adults can have a place to rest, without having to stand and play with them all day.
Parents and children can also enjoy snorkeling! Introduction to beginner courses for children aged 7 and above
Want your children to learn more about the ocean and experience the fun of snorkeling, but are worried about safety issues? Longdong Bay Ocean Park's "Beginner Snorkeling Course" is a good choice. As long as the child is over 7 years old, they can participate with their parents. Professional coaches will accompany them throughout the process. It is suitable for parent-child beginners with no experience at all.
The course is about 90 minutes long and includes instruction on how to use snorkeling equipment, an introduction to marine safety concepts, and finally a coach will lead you into the water to actually snorkel and observe the marine ecology. The overall process is clear and the content is solid. It is a friendly and safe entry experience for families who are new to snorkeling.
Course Information at a Glance:
- Course name: Snorkeling beginner course (advance reservation required)
- Price: 800 yuan/person
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Age limit: 7 years and above
- Equipment provided: diving suit, non-slip shoes, mask, snorkel, life jacket
- Course content: Understanding the marine environment and safety rules, teaching how to use a snorkel and mask, surface snorkeling tour + observation of marine ecology
- The registration method is online reservation. It is recommended to register at least one week in advance, especially during holidays when the places will be snapped up quickly.
Safety is the most important thing when playing in the water! Summary of precautions for playing in the water in Longdong Bay
This time I went to Longdong Bay to play in the water with my classmates from Little Hamburger's class. The overall experience was very good. The water play environment in the park is very clean, and each area has a clear division of safe water play areas. Lifeguards are also arranged to take turns to be stationed, so that parents can feel more at ease when accompanying their children to play in the water.
It is worth mentioning that the marine conservation here is well done. We actually saw small marine creatures such as hermit crabs and clownfish. The children played in the water while observing the ecology, which unexpectedly turned into a relaxing natural education experience. This is also really thanks to the fact that most tourists have the concept of protecting the environment, which keeps this sea so clean.
There is also a simple sales department on site, where you can buy cooked food such as tea eggs, hot dogs, and squid soup. However, you are also allowed to bring your own food into the park, just remember to take away the garbage or recycle it separately, and let the children learn to follow the rules in public spaces and love nature, so that the journey will be more meaningful.
