After introducing the beautiful scenery of the first and second floors of Kyoto Ruriko-in Temple, the uniqueness of the garden and the relatively few tourists at that time made the entire garden and viewing buildings exude an elegant atmosphere, making people appreciate it more carefully. Savor the beauty of the red leaves. After admiring the vast maple view of the garden, we reluctantly bought matcha rolls and stayed leisurely in the small room to further enjoy this rare quiet time, allowing the echo between the state of mind and the beautiful scenery to be more thorough and purified.
Transportation and itinerary to Rurikoin
To get to Rurikoin Temple, the fastest way is to take the Eizan Main Line (Green Line) of the Eizan Electric Railway, get off at the Yase Hieizanguchi Station at the end of the route, and then walk about 500 meters along the Kono River to get there. Very convenient. In addition, you can also take Kyoto Bus Routes 10, 16, 17, 18, and 19, get off at "Yase Ekimae" station, and then walk about 600 meters to Rurikoin Temple. At that time, we considered staying near Kyoto Station, and finally chose to take the most convenient bus route 5, and then transfer to the Eizan Electric Railway's Green Line at Takaraike Station, which easily led directly to Rurikoin Temple.
So, how to plan a one-day maple viewing itinerary that includes Ruriko-in Temple? In my experience, the itinerary is very simple and you can focus the whole day on Rurikoin! After setting off for Ruriko-in Temple in the morning, we originally planned to take the Eizan Cable Car and Eizan Ropeway to Mount Hiei in the afternoon to enjoy the maple scenery of the mountain. However, because we were intoxicated by the beautiful scenery of Ruriko-in Temple, we could only go to the Yase Station of the Hieizan Cable Car for a brief visit in the evening. It is recommended to arrive at Ruriko-in Temple early in the morning, and then arrange other maple viewing spots along the Eizan Electric Railway or Bus No. 5 based on your personal interests and the situation at the time.

Ruriko Institute.Quiet experience of matcha table
When I went to Kyoto to enjoy the autumn leaves in 2014, it happened that Ruriko-in Temple was reopened from November 11th to 15th. Although each visitor has to pay a hefty 30 yen entrance fee, I decided to come and check it out. After lingering on the first and second floors, when I was about to leave reluctantly, I discovered a special matcha mat maple viewing area on the first floor. Although each person had to pay an additional 2,000 yen to purchase matcha rolls, considering that such an opportunity was rare, I bought the matcha rolls without hesitation and waited to enter. About 600 minutes later, under the guidance of the staff, I walked into this small room for tea and maple viewing. I instantly felt a new maple viewing experience, as if I had entered a deeper maple viewing mood.
▲ The matcha table is set in the small square room on the right of the Wolong Garden.
▲ Actually being in the garden of Wolong is a completely different feeling.
▲ When the red leaves appear under the eaves and between the door frames, it is a very special artistic conception.
▲ The desire language displayed in the door frame is still the maple scene, which is different from the second-order red leaves with a wide field of vision. It makes people feel more settled and allows the scenery and the heart to interact with each other.
▲ Very exquisite small desserts, decorated with maple leaves, really make people love it and reluctant to eat it!
▲ A cup of matcha with a bite of dessert, let the mood bathed in the garden scenery peacefully.
▲ Being in a space that can only accommodate four people, looking at the beautiful scenery outside the doors and windows, it immediately makes people feel extremely peaceful.
▲ From different angles to appreciate the garden scenery, you can experience many different tastes.
▲ The rosary jewelry distributed at the entrance was so excited that I forgot to take it when I started, so I went out and went back to get it with the staff.
▲ Rurikoin in the Guangming Temple of Wuliang Shoushan, the beautiful scenery of red leaves can be on par with the Guangming Temple of Somoto Mountain in the west.
▲Leaving Ruliguangyuan along the way, you can still see the beautiful scenery on both sides of the road, which makes people reluctant to give up.
When it was fashionable for a while, I took advantage of the darkness before it shrouded, and proceeded to the Keifu Electric Railway's Haase Station on the steel cable line to enjoy the red maple around the station.
Postscript: The high-priced visit fee worthy of a half-day stay
When I walked out of the gate of Ruriko-in Temple, I happened to meet a Chinese lady who asked: "I only have half an hour left to visit and I have to catch a flight. Is it worth spending 2,000 yen to enter?"
How to answer this question? The real problem wasn't the high admission fee, but the fact that she only had half an hour to visit Rurikoin. Whether you buy a ticket to enter or choose to leave, it will make people feel regretful! If you buy a ticket to enter, you will not be able to fully experience the beautiful scenery of Ruriko-in due to the short time; and if you leave directly, you will feel regretful because you missed such a magnificent scenery.
Therefore, if you have the opportunity to visit Ruriko-in in the future, I recommend setting aside at least a full day. Although this garden is not large in area, its elegant environment and charming scenery will make you linger and find it difficult to leave.
